ASUS has recently launched the TUF Gaming FX504, its latest mid-range gaming laptop, in India. Prior to that, one of Acer’s most premium products in the Indian market is the Nitro 5 (2018). Both these laptops target a similar price range and are designed after a similar formula – i.e., offering solid specs at an affordable price tag.

Design Here both laptops sport a black chassis with subtle branding on their respective bodies. The key difference between them is that while the Asus laptop comes with a plastic body, the Acer one has a metal build. This makes the Acer laptop feel more premium, though it is also heavier as a result.

Both laptops have some pretty solid specs on paper. The ASUS TUF Gaming FX504 comes with an 8th Gen Intel Core i5-8300H processor, 8GB of RAM, 1TB of HDD storage and a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050Ti 4GB graphics card. The Acer Nitro 5 (2018), on the other hand, sports an 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8750H processor, 16GB of RAM, 256GB SSD storage and a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB graphics card.

Display and Keyboard Here both laptops come with a 15.6-inch Full HD IPS display. However, the Acer laptop has a much brighter screen than the ASUS laptop. The keyboard on both these laptops is pretty solid and we did not face any issues while using them for writing or playing games (we played PUBG on both these devices). Both the keyboards are backlit as well.

Performance As mentioned earlier, the Acer laptop comes with better specs in comparison to the ASUS one and that results in it getting a lead here. The Intel Core i7 processor and the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 graphics card make this device perfect for graphic-intensive tasks such as gaming and video editing.

Battery Life The ASUS TUF Gaming FX504 comes with a 48Wh battery, while the Acer Nitro 5 (2018) comes with a 62Wh battery. In our testing, we found that the Acer laptop lasts much longer than the ASUS one.
